East Line vs. West Line, Which One to Choose?

Traveling in Hainan essentially comes down to two main routes. Choose according to your needs, save time, and beginners can just copy this plan!

East Line (Most Recommended · First Choice for Newbies): Haikou → Wenchang → Qionghai → Wanning → Lingshui → Sanya

Features: Densely packed attractions, convenient transportation, and complete facilities. It covers the island's most classic experiences of seeing, playing in, and eating seafood. Suitable for those coming to Hainan for the first time, those who like bustle, and those who want to check off core scenic spots all at once. The pace is gentle throughout and not tiring~

West Line (Deep Dive · Niche Choice): Haikou → Chengmai → Lingao → Danzhou → Dongfang

Features: Low level of commercialization, few people, beautiful scenery. It focuses on local life vibes and original ecological scenery. Suitable for those who like quiet, want to avoid internet-famous crowds, and experience the authentic taste of Hainan. The pace is slower, allowing for a deep appreciation of the Coconut Island's sense of relaxation.

Must-Read Pitfall Avoidance Tips for Newbies

1. Do not trust roadside "low-priced one-day tours" or "free tour guides"; most involve forced shopping, wasting time and affecting your mood;

  1. Be sure to ask prices clearly in advance at seafood markets, best to ask merchants to mark prices explicitly to avoid being ripped off;

  2. The UV rays in Hainan are super strong. No matter what season you come, sun protection clothing, sunscreen, and sunglasses must be prepared to avoid sunburn;

  3. Don't buy specialties in scenic spots as prices are high; city supermarkets or local markets are more affordable, such as coconut candy, coffee, and vacuum-packed Wenchang chicken.
